  I took my wife there for her birthday dinner. It was not what I expected on the border of Frederick and Washington Counties. I could not believe how good the food was. Everything we had was good. We started with a crab soup that was awesome. We ordered the fried tomatoes which were also good. I had the guide burger with hand cut fries which was cooked to order medium rare and she had the fish on risotto special. The beer selection was decent. Not a wine drinker so I cannot comment on the wines but the selection looked numerous. The décor is rugged but charming. This place is a real diamond in the rough and I am going back again next week. I also want to make sure to try the Thursday Italian night.

  Really like this place....good food, pleasant bar, good service from wait staff who are happy to advise and seem to enjoy their work. I was there on a Friday evening recently and a painting class was busy at the end of the room. The theme of the decor is "a day on the river". Great place to eat on the way to or from Harper's Ferry or the canal towpath.
